KATE CLANCY

KATE CLANCY ARCHITECTURE GRADUATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CORK

Objective: Architecture Graduate seeks 12-month paid internship in Architecture with a company in New York City. Irish citizen and holder of J-1 IWT visa (which grants 12 months permission to work in the U.S.), housing and health insurance already provided.

I am a creative, detail orientated, self-motivated designer with a passion for architecture, art and fashion.  I am a team player  with excellent research and design skills.  I am capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of skills  including effective communication, efficient time management, strong problem-solving, ability to work under pressure and AutoCAD proficiency.

Once presented with a task I entirely commit myself to it until I achieve the desired result.  I would excel in assisting design consultants in realizing designs and treasure the experience of being involved in a project life cycle.  I have a particular interest in the dynamics of residential housing, public buildings and public space, their contribution to the fabric of the city and the quality of life that buildings and space facilitate for their inhabitants.

Having graduated from University College Cork in 2012 with an Honors Architecture Degree, I have since completed a six month internship in Ireland. I am relocating to New York City in August 2013 for 12 months, as I would love the opportunity to work in a hands-on environment, side by side with knowledgeable and experienced experts in the field of Architecture.

Creativity:

In my final year of architecture I completed two independent design thesis projects focusing on the theme of “Urban Fragments”, which investigated the civic realm within the urban environment.  These projects were of complex and developed nature, which confronted materiality, technology, social issues, sustainability, urban form and impact.

Strong Communication skills:

I composed a 10,000 word dissertation entitled: “In Order to Create a Sense of Place and Belonging in the Modern City, Tradition and Modernity are Required to Fuse Together: An Alternative Modernity by Aldo van Eyck and Aldo Rossi”.
